Queen's 90th birthday celebrations
10th June 2016
This exciting day started with a red, white and blue hairspraying session on the school playground. During Assembly we learned some interesting facts about the Queen and reflected on the fact that she is a shining example of the value of service.
After school, we celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday at a spectacular event on the school playground. Fortunately the sun shone as children dressed in red, white and blue were able to have their face painted, eat ice lollies and frozen mango, have a go at knocking down piles of cans, win a book in the book tombola or take part in a penalty shoot out. Their parents and other family members were able to enjoy refreshments including delicious scones and home-made cakes while basking in the glorious sunshine. On display were many different artistic interpretations of the Queen created by children and their families using different media including Lego! Entertainment was provided by our newly-formed Street Dance Group and the School Choir who ended their performance by asking everyone to join in singing the National Anthem. Many thanks to the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association for organising the after-school event and for their hairspraying salon in the morning!
