Universal Infant Free School Meals (WEF Sept 2014)
Under the terms of ‘best value’, schools are required to invite bids to tender for school contracts via the local authority’s national web-portal and we work closely with the Procurement Department to ensure we are fully compliant in the process. The qualifying companies have to satisfy a rigorous specification, demonstrate financial stability, make a presentation and facilitate a taster assessment to staff, parents, governors and children.
We have very much pleasure to inform you that we have appointed a new catering company called “The Pantry” who are providing our children’s lunches from September. “The Pantry” provide hot lunches and parents are reminded that children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are all entitled to a free lunch under the terms of the government’s Universal Free School Meals initiative. However, if your child is in Years 3 to 6 and you are entitled to Free Schools Meals, due to financial reasons, do please ensure that you make an application to the school office in order that the school will receive a Pupil Premium, which in turn, can help to support your child. We are happy to help at any time in complete confidence.
“The Pantry” is a well-established, family run company which we believe embraces our aspirations to make lunch-times homely, enjoyable, nutritional and welcoming for our children. They will be introducing an optional, cashless payment system, similar to ParentPay but will accept cheques and cash payments if preferred for Key Stage Two lunches.
Menus operate on a 3 week rotation - please check the latest Friday Bulletin to find out which week's menu is being supplied. We very much hope that your children will try the new service.
