4th October 2016
We held a joyful Harvest celebration on Tuesday 4th October at Holy Trinity Church. The service was attended by the whole school (some of whom i.e. Acorns have only been in school for a week!) and many family and friends. This year, along with the Church, we are donating our Harvest gifts to the Hillingdon Food Bank. To learn more about the work of food banks, we invited Pastor Vine (who runs the Hillingdon Food Bank) to talk to us. He gave a thought-provoking speech which encouraged us all to reflect on our school value of thankfulness that we have enough food to eat, but also encouraged us to think of others in our local area who need the food bank for a variety of reasons. After the service, Year 6 children helped members of the Church to sort and pack all the donated goods into boxes which were then collected by Pastor Vine to be distributed around Hillingdon.
As a school, we would like to become more involved with helping to support the food bank and so from next week there will be an opportunity to donate goods in school - more details to follow soon in a letter.
Thank you to all those parents who sent in tins, packets etc. Pastor Vine was quite overwhelmed with the amount of produce and had difficulty fitting it all in his van!
